My Dear Friend,
It should come as no surprise to us because we serve... and are "children" of... a Father who longs to bless us. The Bible declares it is His good pleasure to give His children the Kingdom. (Luke 12:32)
Nonetheless, we should be cautioned that God will give to us only in the proportion by which we can receive it! Therefore, we must be prepared to receive from Him.
In II Kings 4, when the widow woman needed to receive a blessing from God she had to get prepared. Elisha told her to collect many empty vessels. God cannot pour out His fullness into a vessel already filled filled with the need for self-gratification or the things of this world.
The Prophet Elisha told the woman to collect not a few vessels. In other words she had to expand her capacity to receive. It's important to note that the Hebrew word vessel as used in this scripture, does not just refer to a container. It means, something prepared.
When the woman came to the final vessel, she called for more vessels because God had miraculously filled all that she had from the little pot of oil she had in her home. But her sons told her they had run out of vessels they were no longer in a position to receive. And the Bible says the oil stayed. Which means it stopped. It did not run out. But God stopped His blessing because she could no longer contain it.
As we prepare to receive more of God, we must remember to stay ready and prepared to receive from Him! Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you anything in your life that does not please God. Let Him show you anything that prevents God from pouring out His bounty upon your life. When the Holy Spirit shows you what needs to be removed, it's up to you to be obedient and clean your vessel to receive and have more of God.
May the peace of God keep you as the blood of Jesus covers you.
